COVID-19 Updates at Natural Landscape Group

Update From Natural Landscape Group

NLG continues to carefully monitor the rapidly evolving situation regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19).  We have established a business contingency plan to limit disruptions to our service levels.

While our sales team may not be able to visit your homes physically, we are operating as usual and are available by phone, FaceTime, text or email.  Each member of the team has been instructed to avoid large group settings in confined areas and overnight travel is banned effective immediately.  This includes attending industry-related events, dealer open houses and customer appreciation days.

Around the globe, companies are being impacted by COVID-19. NLG is also affected by this challenging new reality.  We will continue to keep you abreast of any potential impact as the situation continues to develop.

Please contact your sales representative if you have any questions or need additional information.

Thank you and be safe,

The NLG Team

NLG Recommendations

We understand that there is a lot of concern about what to do about COVID-19.  We have been monitoring the daily public health recommendations at the federal and provincial level ever since the classification of COVID-19 as a pandemic.  I want to highlight that the recommendations being made by public health professionals in Canada are lead by science.

These are the same recommendations we are following and will continue to monitor.

With all of this taken into consideration, we will continue to operate Natural Landscape Group in the following ways to follow the public health guidelines:

  1. Not attend any meetings or presentations with groups of people of more than 10 people.
  2. Maintain social distancing of 2 meters out in public. (for example – while at a supplier or at a client’s property)
  3. Maintain Set Crews who are assigned each to one Truck.  (for example – no mixing of crews or trucks.  Each crew stays together and uses their set assigned truck from day to day)
  4. The work day will be from 8am meeting at the compound to 5pm leaving the compound until further notice to offer better rest times.
  5. It is suggested to bring lunches, coffee, etc to minimize exposure to fast food chains and public stores.

Natural Landscape Group is committed to helping slow down the infection rate of COVID-19 (“flatten the curve”) using the effective recommendations of our public health system.  And, although our business functions cannot be performed from home, we will use all of the recommendations to keep our health as well as the public’s health in mind.

As the recommendations change, we will continue to monitor these changes and update this blog.

Information From the Ontario Government

Please visit the Ontario Ministry of Health Information Sheet for more information. We will highlight some of the key points below:

  1. The 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) causes a respiratory infection that originated in Hubei province (Wuhan), China.  The first case in Ontario was identified on January 25th, 2020.

Our government and public health professionals have been following a multi-faceted approach to mitigate this challenge in order to slow down the infection rate of this virus.  These steps include:

  1. No travel outside of Canada
  2. Self-isolate for 14 days if you have just returned from travelling outside of Canada
  3. Wash your hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer often
  4. Sneeze and cough into your sleeve
  5. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
  6. Avoid contact with people who are sick
  7. Cancellation of events where more than 10 people will be present
  8. Social distancing of 2 metres when out in public
  9. Work from home if your job permits
  10. Self-isolate and contact Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000 if you feel you are showing symptoms of COVID-19

The symptoms to watch out for are outlined in this information sheet and repeated on the province of Ontario’s online self-assessment.  These symptoms are:

Fever, New Cough or Worsening, Difficulty breathing, Muscle Aches, Fatigue, Headache, Sore throat, Runny Nose, Diarrhea

You should self-isolate if:

  1. Have travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days
  2. Someone you are in close contact with has COVID-19
  3. Been in close contact with a person who is sick with respiratory symptoms who has recently travelled outside of Canada.

There are no specific treatments for coronaviruses and no specific vaccine.  If you have COVID-19, you should:

  1. Drink plenty of fluids
  2. Get rest and sleep as much as possible
  3. Try a humidifier or a hot shower to help with a sore throat or cough
